Replication timeout
I changed the 'sa' password and after that I got the following errors in the subscription job history:
1-Connecting to Subscriber 'SAONT045\REPORT'
2-Login failed for user 'sa'.
3-The process could not connect to Subscriber 'SAONT045\REPORT'. The step failed.
4-The job failed. The Job was invoked by User sa. The last step to run was step 1 (Run agent.).
What can I do??
Are there anything that I can do to solve that problem without recreate the replication again?
Thanks in advance
Manuel Rodriguesthis is just a hunch but is the sa password the same on both the publisher and subscriber.|||Sounds like you need to check security settings on the Distribution agent. I usually set it to impersonate using Windows authentication, since both SQLAgent services are running under the same Windows account (easier to maintain).|||Make sure the credentials used by SQL serer agent successfully logs into subscriber

Have you tried selecting the database in VS 2008 Data Connections, then
right-click and select Modify Connection, then click the Advanced button to
change the Max Database Size?

Errors in Connecting to SQL Server Compact 3.4 ?
First, let me apologize for the cross-post. I was really at a loss for the
proper group.
I'm using Visual Studio 2008 with a SQL Server Compact 3.5 database.
Using the VS 2008 "Server Explorer", I wish to add an index on a column in
my database. I right-click on the table name and select "Table Properties".
This gives me an error:
"Index out of range. Must be non-negative and less than the size of the
collection. Parameter name: index".
I included a screenshot of the dialog window (e1.jpg).
Since that didn't work I tried to right-click on the table name and select
"Edit Table Schema". This gives me an error:
"The database file is larger than the configured maximum database size. This
setting takes effect on the first concurrent connection only. [Required Max
Database Size (in MB; 0 if unknown) = 0]".
I included a screenshot of the dialog window (e2.jpg).
The connection string for this database has an entry, "Max Database
Size=4091" and the size of the physical size of the file is 322 MB.
So, at this point I am getting these weird errors that are preventing me
from administering the SQL Server Compact DB.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

or post the files somewhere else (e.g. web server, binaries group)
and then post a link here.

Thanks for emailing me a download link to your big database. I was able to
reproduce your problem, but I was also able to work around it and
successfully connect to the database using VS 2008 by chaning the Connect
Timeout value to 500 from the default 30.

Turn off your anti-virus software and if that fixes the problem then exclude
the reporting services folder and sub-folders from scanning.
Personally I disable the virus scanning when I'm working with ASP.NET
applications as I noticed it affects performance generally.

.Net DataProvider for SAP Timeout
I am using the .Net DataProvider for SAP.
When importing data I receive an error, when calling sap functions via exec.
The errors vary (e.g. Error 0xc0047062: Data Flow Task: Microsoft.Adapter.SAP.SAPManagedProviderException: System.OutOfMemoryException: Exception of type 'System.OutOfMemoryException' was thrown.)
On the sap-side the function runs, but it takes a few minutes.
I can ask the sap-bw team to speed up their performance, but this is political.
The sql-timeout parameter is not working with this datareader.
Have you any proposal that solves the problem.
Thanks
this is just a hunch: try using a smaller value for the DefaultBufferMaxRows property of data flow task.|||This has no effect.
On my opion none of the properties has any effect.
But thanks for your answer.
|||Hello Groth,
you may also have a look at this tool: www.xtract-is.com
It works definitly faster than the .NET SAP Provider and there is no need to install any addtional components in SAP.
./. Krishtan
|||
I'm tested the whole week and found out:
The timeouts in the .Net DataProvider for SAP occurs, if the function called on sap-side runs for more than 120 seconds.
Whon knows to whom I can address this problem on the side of MS?
Thanks
|||are you using the ado.net connection manager? if so, did you try changing the connect timeout property?GROTH wrote:

**FIXED** IE 7 Script Errors **FIXED**
Hi, I recently installed IE7 which works well, but when I try to Edit any of my settings in NIS 2005, I get a script error, which reads as follows:
An error has occured in the script on this page
Line: 6
Char:1
Error:Object expected
Code:0
URL: res://C\\program files\common files\Symantec Shared\Options\Options.dll/Options.htm
Do you want to continue running scripts on this page Yes/No
The only way I can correct this fault is to un-install IE7, then NIS2005 works correctly.
Any help will be appreciated.
UPDATE: 02/15/07
FOR NORTON PRODUCTS FROM 2005 or earlier:
1)If you are getting the "szmodify is undefined" error when trying to change firewall settings:
I can fix the problem for you but due to the large amount of people requesting this fix I am now charging $5 for my time fixing your software. Please click on the link below to pay me $5 and I will promptly send you your fixed dll. (Read below for further instructions)
** CLICK HERE to pay $5 to errorhelp@.gmail.com with Paypal**
BEFORE you email me your files.. please run liveupdate to your norton product to verify that you have the most current files . Run it repeatedly until it tells you everything is current (reboot your computer in between update sessions) THEN send me an email.
Anyone who emails me please include:
a. The name of the product you are using
b. the error message u are getting and what you were doing when you got the error
c. please attach your niscmnht.dll in your email . I will edit it for you and email it back to u to fix your problem.
if you dont know how to do that: go to start.. then click search..all files and folders...type in niscmnht.dll . do a search for it.. rt click on it and copy..then go to your desktop and rt click and paste.. now you can find the file to attach it in an email to errorhelp@.gmail.com

You should feel secure that I can fix your issue as many have reported on this very site. (See all 4 pages)
2)If you are getting the "object expected" error when trying to access Norton AntiSpam settings (Maybe other situations as well):
I have never had this problem personally, but after many people asking me to fix it I have a fix that worked for many people (but not all). This is what to do:
Uninstall Internet Explorer 7, reboot, then:
a)If you have your NORTON installation cd: uninstall norton and liveupdate and all norton parts then reboot then reinstall norton and update it repeatedly until you are told there are no more updates then reboot. Then disable norton internet security (firewall) and antivirus for 1 hour (not until reboot) then reinstall ie7 and do all updates. Reboot and reenable all norton products (or just wait the hour) and you should be good. Has worked for many people with this issue. Thank you, Duncan Webberley for your help with this issue.
b)If you DO NOT have your norton installation cd: Disable all norton products for 1 hour (do not uninstall them) then reinstall ie7 wih norton disabled. Now reboot. Make sure all Norton products are reenabled.
FOR NORTON PRODUCTS FROM 2006 or newer:
2006 products were supposed to be fixed through liveupdate and 2007 products should not contain any errors at all. (At least regarding these issues) I have found out that norton is giving free upgrades to users of Norton Internet Security 2006, Norton AntiVirus 2006, Norton System Works 2006, or Norton System Works Premier 2006 with a current subscription (not expired). You are eligible to download and use the latest product versions (2007 or newer as they come out) for your Norton product as they become available during your subscription period. This is their new policy supposedly for future products so people can always have the newest software. This is probably to save them the money of supporting older versions. From symantecs website:
http://www.symantec.com/home_homeoffice/support/special/upgrade2007/index.jsp
THEY ARE NOT PUBLICIZING THIS SO PLEASE SPREAD THIS AROUND TO EVERYONE YOU KNOW WHO USES NORTON.
Also, the 2007 version of Internet Security doesn't automatically come with Norton AntiSpam, Ad Blocking, Norton Parental Control or Confidential Information Blocking (which all came with 2006 version of NIS)
BUT there is a free add-on download from Norton that adds all of these features for this version once you upgrade to 2007, here:

|||I have the same problem with norton personal firewall. Is there a fix short of removing IE 7?|||I found the solution at http://pjondevelopment.50webs.com/blog/2006/01/ie7-sw-2005-follow-up.html
There is a problem in the niscmnht.dll that comes with NIS 2005 and it does not work with IE7.
I edited the file and fixed it. However, Symantec should fix the file to recognize IE7.
|||I spent about 2 hours via email/online chat with Symantec running me through various help, installing various parts and pieces, nothing came out of it except "We are working on the fix"...uninstall IE7, and install IE6. And a waste of my 2 hours. The above site was very helpful! It seems that Symantec doesn't want to fix the problem. Wonder how much more of this type of coding issues is throughout Symantec's products? Is this the face that Symantec wants to show the public who purchases their products?|||
I also have contacted symantec and they seem determined to get all of us (users of 2005 and 2006 norton programs to upgrade to 2007 editions. Does anyone know if the problem is in fact fixed in 2007?
Following is my chat session with symantec in which i try to get them to read the site linked above http://pjondevelopment.50webs.com/blog/2006/01/ie7-sw-2005-follow-up.html
which clearly explains the problem and how they can fix it.
They were not helpful at all and refused to say whether they even looked at the site i sent them.

Venkatesh: Thank you for contacting Symantec Live Technical Support. Please make a note of the Chat Request Id 87602 for future reference.
Michael_Bel: im having a problem that many others on the net are having
Venkatesh: Can you confirm the telephone number as **********?
Michael_Bel: ye
Michael_Bel: yes
Venkatesh: I understand that you see script error. Am I correct?
Michael_Bel: yes
Michael_Bel: i have figured out the problem
Michael_Bel: the check version functions in one of your dlls only checks up to version 6
Michael_Bel: see info here:
Michael_Bel: http://pjondevelopment.50webs.com/blog/2006/01/ie7-sw-2005-follow-up.html
Michael_Bel: well I didnt figure it out.. this guy did
Michael_Bel: are you still there?
Venkatesh: Yes, I am with you.
Michael_Bel: hi
Michael_Bel: are you familiar with this problem?
Michael_Bel: the error in the code seems pretty obvious
Michael_Bel: apparently that dll is used in many of your products
Venkatesh: This issue can happen due to corrupted Windows Script files. To fix this issue, you need to reinstall it. To do this, please refer the link provided below:
Michael_Bel: no i did that already
Venkatesh: http://service1.symantec.com/Support/nip.nsf/docid/2001061413320736
Michael_Bel: didnt work
Michael_Bel: i told you what the issue is
Michael_Bel: yeah i saw that one already it didnt work
Venkatesh: In this case, you need to uninstall and reinstall Norton completely.
Michael_Bel: i reinstalled norton internet security.. i reinsstalled script files
Michael_Bel: i did
Michael_Bel: the problem is with your program.. did you read the page i sent you in the link?
Michael_Bel: you guys need to come out with a patch for any of your programs using niscmnht.dll
Michael_Bel: to fix the check version function
Venkatesh: Michael, I do understand that your concern. So, in the latest version of Norton Internet Security we have removed this issue feature itself.
Michael_Bel: wait.. do u understand or do you not understand?
Michael_Bel: ok but what about the older products?
Venkatesh: In older programs, by uninstalling and reinstall it should fix the issue.
Venkatesh: Did you run the Norton Removal tool?
Michael_Bel: it didnt
Michael_Bel: i said this already
Michael_Bel: yes
Michael_Bel: and i reinstalled scripts
Michael_Bel: i have done everything in all of your online resource guides but it didnt fix anything bc as ive said, the problem is in the faulty code of your dll
Michael_Bel: can i speak to a supervisor?
Michael_Bel: please
Venkatesh: Michael, may I know how many days is left for the subscription to expire?
Michael_Bel: ~100
Venkatesh: In this case, I suggest you to purchase Norton Internet Security 2007 and install it. However, you can add the remaining part of Norton 2005 subscription to Norton 2007.
Venkatesh: In Norton Internet Security 2007 program we have overcome the faulty dll file.
Michael_Bel: so your company isnt planning on patching the dll in the other programs through liveupdate?
Michael_Bel: many people on the web are wondering this and i will be posting this chat session online
Venkatesh: May I know the exact text of error message displayed on the screen?
Michael_Bel: An error has occured in the sript on this page.
Michael_Bel: Line: 475
Michael_Bel: Char: 8
Michael_Bel: Error: 'szModify' is undefined
Michael_Bel: Code: 0
Michael_Bel: URL: res://fwui.dll/ruleSummary.htm
Michael_Bel: Do you want to continue using scripts on this page? YES/NO
Michael_Bel: this hasppens when i try to create firewall rules
Michael_Bel: and again...
Michael_Bel: info on why it is happening is here
Michael_Bel: http://pjondevelopment.50webs.com/blog/2006/01/ie7-sw-2005-follow-up.html
Michael_Bel: i mean here
Venkatesh: After the release of IE 7.0 Symantec has released program updates which will make Norton 2005 programs compatible with IE 7.0. Once you download those program updates you should not be getting the script errors.
Venkatesh: However, if you are still getting the script errors even after downloading the latest program updates, I suggest you to uninstall IE 7.0 and install IE 6.0.
Michael_Bel: did you read the site i sent you?
Michael_Bel: ?
Michael_Bel: are you still there?
Venkatesh: Analyst has closed chat and left the room
she fled..... and wouldnt give me a supervisor.. Symantec could fix this so easily through liveupdate it isnt funny. They should stop being so stubborn and fix the problematic coding.
|||I have edited the dll using the new code supplied by pjondevelopment in A. Jordan's post. BTW i used a program called PE Explorer free 30 day trial to edit the dll.
I just reinstalled windows so i will be testing the functionality of my new dll after i update windows and internet explorer.
Will let people know how it works and the dll will be available by email. (If i was successful)
The only thing im worried about is whether the dlls are the same throughout the norton products (and therefore if my edited dll from my norton internet security 2005 antispyware edition will work for people with different programs or versions). Worst comes to worst.. people can email me their existing niscmnht.dll and i can edit it for them and reemail the fixed versions.
Anyone with any info please post.
|||I was successful in fixing the problem!!
I have updated to internet explorer 7 and my norton problems started. I then replaced the dll with the edited version i made and it works fine. If anyone wants the fix or instructions on how to do it post your email address and ill respond accordingly.
Please verify that your niscmnht.dll is the same version as mine.. do a search for it.. rt click on it and go to properties..version tab.. then click on file version and it should be 8.2.0.23
If it isnt that version... post me your email and ill email you so you can send me a copy of your dll and ill edit it and sent it back to you.

I'm getting the exact same script error message that the original poster was getting which appears to be slightly different to yours. Would your fix work for that problem also? My version is different to yours as well - 8.2.0.21
Any instruction would need to be pretty easy to follow for me or I fear it may be out of my league!
If you reckon I could get Norton 2005 working again without the script errors I;ll post my email on reply.
Thanks.
|||Hi Michael, I posted the original error, yes please could you help me in sorting this problem. My email address is raw3353@.hotmail.com my .dll version is 8.01.21

I'm afraid I've decided to ditch my Norton software and I've installed alternative software that's working perfectly.
|||Can someone help me out with mine. I need the file edited properly to fix this error and my version number is 8.0.0.112Im using Norton Anti Virus 2005.|||
ok so ive made a new email address for myself so people can send me their files. It is errorhelp@.gmail.com
This is to prevent spam to my real email.
BEFORE you email me your files.. please run liveupdate to your norton product to verify that you have the most current files . Run it repeatedly until it tells you everything is current (reboot your computer in between update sessions) When it tells you they are current then reboot then check if your problem is fixed and if not THEN send me an email.
So anyone who emails me please include:
1. The name of the product you are using
2. the error message u are getting and what you were doing when you got the error
3. please attach your niscmnht.dll in your email .
Rob Wheeler & du1608 - Your problem may be a little different . please do the same as above but ALSO attach your options.dll file.
UPDATE: 12/16/06
I have responded to all of the emails i have received either with fixed dlls or with instructions on how to fix it ( a little complicated). Please post if your problem is fixed.
Rob Wheeler and du1608 - Rob has sent me his dlls and after looking at his options.dll i didnt see any html at all so i think your options. dll files may be corrupt. Please make sure that u have done all liveupdates and if that doesnt fix it try to reinstall the norton product and if not email me @. errorhelp @.gmail.com and we can try me emailing you my options.dll (that i see has the mentioned options html) . I use norton internet security 2005 Antispyware Edition
- Michael Belsky
UPDATE: 12/25/06
I have been mostly successful in fixing the problems but for those I have been unable to help... I have found Norton Internet Security 2007 on ebay.com for under $24. Do an advanced search on ebay for norton internet security and check "buy it now" and sort by lowest price first. I just bought one today for my mother-in-law. While I hate promoting Symantecs agenda of getting us all to upgrade to 2007 version, I am glad to help people get it for cheaper than $70 (what a ripoff) Basically I buy a new one every year from ebay.. Cheaper than renewing. If anyone needs help email me.
-Michael Belsky
UPDATE: 12/29/06
Some people have been getting additional script errors after using my fixed DLLs (permission denied and others). The fix is to rt click on the dll and go to properties..then on the general tab if there is an "UNBLOCK" button.. push it to fix the issues. Apparently the dll keeps some kind of signatures from my system and if your computer realizes that the dll is from a different machine, it blocks some access to it, causing the errors. Thanks to Simon Verlee for the help on this one.

UPDATE: 12/31/06
So I was about to fix the faulty code on my mother-in-laws laptop after I upgraded her to ie7 . She uses Norton Internet Security 2006 so I expected the szmodify is undefined error but it didnt happen when accessing my firewall rules. So I checked out the code in the dll and it appears that symantec has fixed the code at some point? The code was not the same as the one I used that would work for an ie8 or ie9 but nortons code will only work for ie7 (guess they didnt learn their lesson of programming limitations with lazy code.
Still getting the script error when accessing log viewer but if you click no once it stops until u exit the log viewer so who really cares I guess (I saw a fix to add about:blank to the trusted sites of ie7 but that seems like a crazy security risk as many spyware and viruses can use this as a way into your system, so I wouldnt recommend that fix.. Havent seen any others on he net yet..

BUT there is a free add-on download from Norton that adds all of these features for this version once you upgrade to 2007, here:

i get a similar error when going to the general rules button in the advanced settings of the firewall in norton internet security 2005 antispyware edition. The result is i cant create any new firewall rules! This only occurs since I installed Internet Explorer 7.
The Exact error is:
An error has occured in the sript on this page.

Char: 8
Error: 'szModify' is undefined
Code: 0
URL: res://fwui.dll/ruleSummary.htm
Do you want to continue using scripts on this page? YES/NO

I'm getting the same with NIS 2005 non-antispyware version. NIS hangs when I click yes or no or try to close the dialog box.
Microsoft PLEASE HELP -
|||Hi, Thanks for your reply, I have now uninstalled IE7 and the problem has now gone so I guess its a problem with IE7 working with NIS 2005
Regards

Michael
I'm getting the exact same script error message that the original poster was getting which appears to be slightly different to yours. Would your fix work for that problem also? My version is different to yours as well - 8.2.0.21
Any instruction would need to be pretty easy to follow for me or I fear it may be out of my league!
If you reckon I could get Norton 2005 working again without the script errors I;ll post my email on reply.
Thanks.
|||Hi Michael, I posted the original error, yes please could you help me in sorting this problem. My email address is raw3353@.hotmail.com my .dll version is 8.01.21
Thank you.
|||I got this response from Symantec after a couple of emails giving me things to try and then sending them the link to this page:
Hello,

Please note that the Symantec development team is currently working on this issue. We may release a patch to fix this issue as soon as possible. Hence, I request you to ignore the alert message that you are receiving from Norton Protection Center (NPC) for the time being and continue using your Norton product.

I'm afraid I've decided to ditch my Norton software and I've installed alternative software that's working perfectly.
|||Can someone help me out with mine. I need the file edited properly to fix this error and my version number is 8.0.0.112Im using Norton Anti Virus 2005.
|||
ok so ive made a new email address for myself so people can send me their files.
